Sunday Morning Activities
We believe that children and young people are important members of our church family and we want them to actively participate in the Sunday morning service.
We encourage children to join in with the worship, often starting meetings with a song that has action for them to join in with. We also recognise that young children can struggle to focus for a longer period of time so feel free to bring a book or quieter activity for them to do if they need it. We also encourage older children to participate in times of prayer, contributions or testimonies.
During the preaching we provide age specific groups for children to attend which are led by members of the church on a rota (all our children’s workers are DRBS-checked and trained in-line with our safeguarding policy). The groups will include games, crafts and a chance to discuss the bible at an age appropriate level.
The young teens group have lunch together once a month after church and spend the afternoon having fun with different hosts each time.
Older teenagers will usually stay in the meeting for the preaching.
Kids Alive – Ages 7-11
Kids Alive is a weekly term time club for junior aged children (school years 3-6). It has been running for 17 years on Friday evenings. Our 90 minute session includes games, crafts, drama, stories, music and videos, drinks and snacks, singing, prizes, puppets and a lot of fun. We run this free of charge for children and families in Ladywood.
Our aim is to give the children a lot of fun and also introduce them to the Christian faith – from the wonderful parables of Jesus, the superheroes of the Old Testament, the ways in which Christians live out their faith today, and the values of Christianity which contribute to happy families, communities and society.
We run a full four year programme with different topics for every half term. This has been developed by people with lots of experience in working with children – teachers, community workers, parents. The club is staffed by some experienced older adults and some energetic teenagers! All of the team have current DBS certificates.
