We are a loving community who seek to be there for each other, whatever the cost. So at Church Alive we’re always looking for ways to bless and support each other and encourage one another in our faith in Jesus.
We love parties, walks and games together, being a helping hand with practical things, looking to meet the needs among us and so much more! We pray together. We celebrate together, and we mourn together when things are tough.
We’re also committed to sharing this love with our wider community through giving, volunteering, serving and joining with other local churches.
Discovery Groups
Church is more than Sundays. We are a family. We believe in being there for each other whatever the cost. We spend time together in lots of ways week by week. We have recently started Discovery Groups which use the Discovery Bible Study approach to explore together what is in God’s word and cultivate the rhythms of following Jesus together. It employs a very simple format which can be used by both believers and people who are curious. We share our ups and downs each week, then focus on a short bible passage. The aim is to grow as disciples (followers of Jesus) who share what we’re discovering in our relationship with God, with others. We’d love people to become followers of Jesus too.
Outreach
Bringing Jesus to the world
As an evangelistic church, we believe in sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ with the world around us, backing this up with our deeds.
We think about our outreach as Church Global and Church Local. We are partnered with Catalyst Network, who far from being a faceless parent organisation, are our friends and larger family. We have close ties with our partner churches around the world and provide assistance to one another in a variety of ways. This can be financial help when needs arise, or through practical assistance in-person both in the UK and via international mission groups.
We also have a huge heart for Ladywood, the area in which we are based. This will always be our primary focus and partner with other churches locally from various denominations to bless our wonderful community.
Two or three times a year we hold special outreach services when we invite people to share a meal, take part in a variety of activities and listen to the good news of the gospel.
We host a number of other activities in Ladywood, including an Art group , men’s table tennis club and Kintsugi Hope groups.

Karis Neighbour Scheme
Bringing hope to our community
We are truly blessed to work in partnership with Karis Neighbour Scheme, a community action project in Ladywood, for Ladywood.
Karis seeks to enable people to act as good neighbours so that grace can change lives and transform communities. They achieve this by providing hands-on support, bringing people together, providing opportunities for volunteering and building links between people and organisations to enable community cohesion.

Kintsugi Hope Groups
“Kintsugi” (金継ぎ)is a Japanese technique for repairing pottery with seams of gold. The word means ‘golden joinery’ in Japanese. This repairs the brokenness in a way that makes the object more beautiful, and even more unique than it was prior to being broken. Instead of hiding the scars it makes a feature of them.
Kintsugi Hope is a charity that wants to see a world where mental and emotional health is understood and accepted, with safe and supportive communities for everyone to grow and flourish.
We have started running a 12 week course which provides a safe and supportive space for people who feel or have felt overwhelmed, providing tools for self-management in a facilitated peer mentoring style setting. The group and individual activities are designed to help participants to accept themselves, to understand their value and worth, and grow towards a more resilient and hopeful future.
The course is available for anyone, not just church members. Issues covered include; disappointment, loss, anxiety, anger perfectionism, shame and resilience.
