Financial Giving

‘Each one must give as he has made up his mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.’  2 Corinthians 9:7

We believe that everything we are and everything we have belongs to God. This includes our money. Giving to the work of God is a very ancient practice and one that we teach in the Church.

What do we mean by tithes and offerings?

Tithing means to give one tenth of your resources. We encourage tithing because we believe it is a biblical principle which releases resources for the work of God, and unlocks heaven’s resources into the life of the giver. We believe that since everything is God’s, a tenth is a good starting point but not necessarily a limitation.

The Bible also speaks of making offerings – gifts that are over and above the tithe, and we practise this too. God Himself is so generous towards us, and we seek to be like Him in our generosity.

We believe in encouraging each other to give and to trust God for our finances. We seek to meet each other’s needs whenever we can, and we believe that generosity in this area is a wonderful example of God’s kindness towards us.

Where does the money go?

The money that the Church receives is used to support the work that we do. Our commitments include preaching the gospel, serving the community, helping the poor, discipling believers and giving overseas aid.

‘”Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.”‘ Malachi 3:10
