The Lordship Of Christ
There's only one supreme boss! Someone in the House of Lords may be called 'Lord' but really there is only one 'Lord' - the Lord God. Making Jesus your Lord is recognising that he is in charge. Not because he wants to make us slaves or reduce us to mindless religious freaks, but because he wants a people who value what he values - who do what he would do if he were here in person. But letting him be Lord is not something to take lightly. It requires that you freely give up sitting in the driving seat of your life.
So whether you are rich or poor, famous or infamous doesn't matter - what matters is that you let Jesus guide you in all you do. The reward is that you find your life fulfilling and purposeful - you see others benefiting from your actions and ultimately you find favour with God.
1 Peter 3:14 Acts 20:24
And, it only works if you do it freely! I could bully and force you to do something, even con you into it - but making Jesus Lord of your life is not like these things, it's something you do because you want to and because you realise what it will mean. If you didn't choose it yourself then very quickly you would opt out again - no, making Jesus Lord of your life is one of the hardest and yet most rewarding things to do with your life.
'Do not fear what they fear; do not be frightened. But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord'
'I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me - the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace.'
