Kids Alive
Kids Alive is a free, weekly, term time club for children in school years 3-5 (ages 7-10) that we run in Ladywood.
We have a three year rolling curriculum in which we teach the children a new theme each half term. These themes include 'What Would Jesus Do?', Bible Superheroes, and ALF (About Life and Faith) - material designed for this age group which gives a fun and relevant presentation of the gospel.
The sessions last 90 minutes. They start with board games and quiet toys.
There is a 20 minute presentation of the theme which may include acting, clowning, puppets, dressing up always with lots of audience participation.
After that we do a themed craft activity. We have done all manner of cutting, sticking, molding, sculpting, sewing, planting, decorating and there is usually laughter and a bit of mess!
Then we have a session of games - running around games, team games, races and competitions.
We finish with a brief recap of the session - and each half term we teach the children a memory verse which encapsulates the terms theme.
