The Bible
‘All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.’ (2 Timothy 3:16,17)
We believe the Bible is God’s personal revelation of himself and his purposes. From beginning to end, it tells the story of God’s love for the people of the whole world, and of his desire for them to know and love him.
We respect the Bible as God’s word to us, explaining how and why we are to relate to him. The whole book points to Jesus: in the Old Testament his coming is anticipated as the answer to the problem of sin in the world, and in the New Testament, it is his Kingdom rule and authority that are explained in practical terms.
In other words, God’s ultimate ‘self-revelation’ is in Jesus, and the Bible teaches us how to come into relationship with Jesus and how to serve him with our lives.
